Make the most of the night

01

Start early, end late

The biggest pandals draw hour-long queues after dark. Reach the marquee names by early evening, then wander the smaller ones as the crowd thickens.

02

Travel light, wear soft shoes

You will be on your feet for hours across a few kilometres. Carry water, a little cash for the stalls, and skip the heavy bag.

03

Follow the crowd's flow

Big pandals run one-way through a barricaded lane. Join the line, keep moving, and do not stop for a photo mid-stream. The darshan is quick by design.

04

Eat as you go

The street food is half the pilgrimage: kathi rolls, phuchka, ghugni, biryani and mishti at every turn. Pace yourself so you last the circuit.
