If you go: Dashami evening

Babughat is a police-controlled zone on immersion nights. Come in on foot from Strand Road; cars are stopped well before the ghat, so take the Metro to Esplanade and walk west, and check our Metro guide for how late the trains run.
Wear clothes you do not mind giving up to sindoor, and keep your phone in a zipped pocket on the crowded embankment.
Do not step into the water. The launches and divers on the river are there for the idols and for emergencies, not for photographs.
Each pandal's own immersion date and ghat, once the committee tells us, sit on its page and on the Visarjan schedule; the Red Road carnival needs its own separate plan and, for a seat, a state pass.
